Directed his first feature film "The Lonely Heart's Club Band in September" in 1982. He was the first Japanese filmmaker to be invited to Sundance Institute hosted by Robert Redford. After returning to Japan, he directed "The Enchantment" and was invited to many film festivals. It was shown in theater in New York. "Rock in a Minor Key" in 1988, "Nurses" in 1993, "Shikoku" in 1999, and "Christmas in August" in 2005 are just a few of his notable works. In 2006, his "Heart, Beating in the Dark (new version)" was the opening film of International Film Festival Rotterdam and his thirteen films were shown there as a special program. His latest work is "The Witch of the West is Dead" in 2008.

Made his debut as a film director with "Seigyaku! Onna wo abaku" in 1982.
In 1994, his "800 TWO LAP RUNNERS" has won Agency For Cultural Affairs Film Award and Minister of Education Rookie of the year award in Art.
In 2003, his "Vibrator" won awards in five categories at the 25th Yokohama Film Festival.
He has directed "M" and "Watashi Koishita" in 2007 and "Your Friend" in 2008. His latest film "April Bride" awaits its opening in theater in 2009.

After releasing his debut film "The Adventures of Mrs. Park" in 1996, he released "First Kiss"(1998) starring Choi Ji Woo and Ahn Jae Wook. His major works since then include the romantic comedy "A Millionaire's First Love"(2006), and the Japan-Korea co-production film "Higanjima"(2009) based on the hugely popular manga written by Koji Matsumoto and published in Kodansha’s "Young Magazine". His films have gained a wide following thanks to their distinguished nature, their appeal to the senses, and stylish images. In addition, "Crossing"(2008), a tragic film about a father and son traveling from N. Korea to China to survive, was selected as South Korea's submission to the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 81st Academy Awards.

In 1981, She started her film career as Production Manager on staff at Golden Harvest, the leading production company in Hong Kong. In 2000, she founded China International Entertainment Limited with director Stanley Tong.
She has since participated in the production of over 40 feature film projects for Golden Harvest.
Her credits include producer for Jackie Chan’s most commercially successfully Chinese language features to date, "Rumble In The Bronx" in 1994, "First Strike" in 1995, "Who Am I?" in 1997 and Andrew Lau’s "A Man Called Hero" in 1999, a follow-up to Lau’s highly successful "The Storm Rider."
She has produced many films starring Jackie Chan such as "New Police Story," directed by Benny Chan.
She is now in production of a Jiang Wen film entitled "Let The Bullets Fly" starring Chow Yun-fat, Jiang Wen and Ge You.

His debut as a producer was TV series in the US “PHOTON” in 1986. The first film he produced was “Rock in a Minor Key” in 1986. Since then, he has produced many films.
In 1998, he founded Cross Media, Inc. and has produced “WHITEOUT” in 2000, “Aegis” in 2005, “THE Wow-Choten Hotel” in 2006, and so on. His latest films are “The Glorious Team Batista” in 2008, “The Triumphant Return of General Rouge” and “Battle Under Orion” in 2009.

He is also a film, music, TV producer, author and the founder/CEO of MJM Entertainment Group, a production and marketing company that specializes in developing, producing and promoting media in all forms. He worked in development and marketing on 18 films including "Ray" in 2004, "Holes" in 2003, "The Chronicles of Narnia" in 2005. He is also an award winning record producer, the author/editor of four books, and currently hosts a talk show.
